In order to encourage international students studying in China to improve their performance, the Ministry of Education (MOE) set up the “Outstanding Foreign Students Scholarship”. The 2017/2018 AY “Outstanding Foreign Students Scholarship” is open for application now!

I. The applicants must be:

1.Registered self-financed full-time international undergraduates (second year or above, NOT including 2017 graduating students or students during study extension period)

2.Registered full-time international postgraduates (second year or above, NOT including 2017 graduating students or students during study extension period)

II. Values:

Undergraduates: a one-time award of RMB18000/person

Postgraduates: a one-time award of RMB30000/person

III. Number of Scholarship:

1. Targeted program: the quota of scholarship recipients is 4 for self-financed undergraduates. Each college with self-financed undergraduates can recommend one candidate for the university selection.

2. Non-targeted program:the university can recommend 3 postgraduates to the CSC for further selection. Each college/school with international postgraduates can recommend 1 candidate for the university selection.

3. The final result is subject to the Ministry of Education.

IV. Eligibility:

1. Undergraduate applicants should have excellent academic performance and no records of failed courses during his study in XMU;

2. Postgraduate applicants should have achieved scientific research results, which should be confirmed in the system of the Graduate School of Xiamen University;

3. Demonstrating great interest and friendliness for China and excellent performance in China;

4. Abiding Chinese laws and regulations; in good health both physically and mentally; well-rounded development;

5. Take part actively in extra-curricular activities or social practices.

V. Selection Procedures

1. Qualified postgraduates should fill out application forms and submit requisite documents to their colleges/schools. The first-round review will be conducted by each college/school, the result of which should be published for public review in the colleges before it is submitted for university selection;
